The story of Christmas

Hello!
I think it is safe to say that Winter has officially arrived. We've had some pretty cold and windy days this week so we've had to play inside, however, please remember that if it is a day that is going to be 32 degrees or above with the wind chill that we will play outside. Especially with the really cold weather coming up we try to get outside as much as possible to allow the kids to run around and to get fresh air to help keep germs away. We always make sure that the kids are wearing their winter gear out on the playground.
This week in Preschool we began to learn all about the reason for the season! In addition to Santa Claus, presents, and The North Pole, we talked about The Story of Christmas. The students all learned how an angel came to Mary and told her she was going to have the son of God. We talked about Mary and Joseph traveling to Bethlehem in search of a place to stay, and finding the Manger. And the arrival of Baby Jesus on Christmas Day and the Three Wise Men coming to shower him with gifts. Each day the kids colored a new part of the story and we practiced reading it in class. We also began our numerous Christmas crafts this week (which you might have guessed because of all the glitter). Each student this week took part in decorating a plate that would make up our class Christmas Tree. They also decorated ornaments as well as Christmas stockings. Every day we are also practicing foundational skills such as counting, the alphabet, letter sounds, same/different, patterns, and so much more!
Upcoming Events:
Class Pajama & Christmas Movie Day- Wednesday, December 20
Class Christmas Party- Thursday, December 21
Reminder*- There is NO SCHOOL Friday, December 22nd. It is a faculty In-Service day, the students do not attend.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks,
Ms. Blamble
